A Culture, Not a Costume

I recently noticed the “We’re a Culture, not a Costume” campaign by Students Teaching Against Racism (STARS), an organization at Ohio University. I absolutely love the campaign and think it’s incredibly thought-provoking and timely.

Dressing like this for Halloween is the modern day equivalent of blackface – it’s passe, not funny, and just … boring.

At least up the ante and dress like a slutty witch. (wink)

We're a culture, not a costume.
